The Lost Swamp
As its name suggests, the “Marais Perdu” was a difficult area to develop. For many years, the city would use the eastern part of this ungrateful space as a dump, dumping garbage and urban waste into what was called “le Bourrier”

The Minimes district
Although very close to the city centre, the Pointe des Minimes and Coureilles were not affected by the expansion of the urbanisation of La Rochelle before the 1970s. They were separated from the heart of the city, to the north, by the access channel to the port itself, extended by a vast area of marshland which came to the foot of Coureilles. To the east, by the railway line built in 1857 which cut the connection to the parish of Tasdon.

Pierre Oltramare
Pierre Oltramare-Moindron is, of all the owners of Coureilles, one of those who lived there the longest. His ancestors only came during the summer months to what was their secondary residence. He did not work personally on the farm. His wife, Suzanne, kept the accounts and supervised his work as she did Richard, whom he also exploited directly. He also visited the farmer from time to time at his property in La Vilette near Chaillé-les-Marais.
